Big Company Files UDRP Case Over My Domain in the UK – How to Respond

A recent email from a law firm has brought a UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) dispute to my attention. The message alleges trademark infringement on behalf of a well-known corporation and concerns a domain name I purchased more than five years ago, which I had since forgotten about. At the time, I was unaware of the company or its trademark rights.

The claim asserts that I registered the domain in bad faith with the expectation that the company would eventually license or purchase it from me. In my view, this is not accurate—the domain is simply a combination of my own name and the business I had originally planned to launch.

I no longer need the domain and am willing to relinquish it, but I want to handle the situation properly. Have others faced a similar challenge? What is the best course of action in this scenario? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
